Neil Mackenzie

With deep sadness we announce that our ex-colleague, Neil Mackenzie died in a climbing accident in Canada on 11 Jan 2015.

Neil will be known to many in the Institute where he did his PhD (2005-2009) with Bruce Whitelaw and a Post-Doc (2010-2013) with Vicky MacRae.

Last year Neil left Roslin to take up a post-doctoral position in the lab of Dieter Bromme, University of British Columbia in Vancouver.

Neil had a passion for life and especially mountaineering which, in part, took him out to Vancouver. His love for the being in the mountains was a strong driver in his life.

He was a friend and colleague to many within the Institute where he will be remembered very fondly and will be greatly missed.
