Roslin Business Development Manager is KT Achiever of the Year

The Roslin Institute's Business Development Manger, Dr Sonja Vujovic, has been awarded the Knowledge Transfer (KT) Achiever of the Year at the PraxisUnico Impact Awards.

Sonja with her KT achiever of the year award

Sonja is one of Edinburgh Research and Innovation's (ERI) Business Development Executives but she is based at The Roslin Institute where she provides dedicated business support to the Institute and Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies.

The award presentation took place at the annual PraxisUnico Conference on 14th June in Southampton where Sonja was also one of the speakers.

Sonja joined ERI in 2008 and from the outset her approach has been to increase the number of Institute researchers involved in, and aware of, the added advantages of working with industry on a worldwide basis whilst simultaneously placing this informed industrial engagement, input and market need at the heart of all technology/knowledge transfer activities conducted at the Institute.

In just over three years, this focused culture change has resulted in over 75% of the group leaders becoming engaged in KT associated activities. Her industry-focused, client management-based approach has resulted in over 40 funding awards from various streams, the value of which exceeds £8 million, and underpinned the establishment of the five year EBRC - Pfizer multi-million pound partnership in animal health.

I am delighted that Sonja has received this award, which is just recognition for the dedication and innovation she has shown in her work at Roslin. Her enthusiasm and drive have been central to all that the Institute has achieved since in joined the University of Edinburgh in 2008.
