Athena Swan award for Roslin

The Roslin Institute, which is strategically supported by the BBSRC, has received a Bronze Athena SWAN award in recognition for its commitment to women's career development.

The Athena SWAN Charter recognises and celebrates good employment practice for women working in science, engineering and technology in higher education and research.

The Institute was granted the award in recognition of the additional efforts made, over and above standard University wide policies, to promote gender equality and address particular challenges for women within science.

The Institute received positive feedback on its commitment to training and development, strong appraisal and induction programme and local postdoctoral mentoring scheme. As part of the SWAN process, the Institute has developed a three year action plan to progress with current initiatives and to further address challenges for women within science.

The Institute has been invited to submit for a silver award in 12 months time.

This is an important achievement for the Institute, and we are looking forward to progressing on our action plan initiatives within the next year.
