Dolly Memories appeal

2016 marks the 20th anniversary of Dolly the Sheep, and our year-long Dolly@20 celebrations commemorate the anniversary of Dolly and her impact on science and society.

Dolly was born at the Roslin Institute on the 5th of July 1996, and was the first mammal to be cloned from an adult cell. As well as revolutionising science, Dolly also captured the hearts and minds of the public, becoming the centre of a media frenzy following her announcement to the world.

Part of the Dolly@20 celebrations is the Dolly Memories project, which aims to capture people’s memories of Dolly and their reactions to her creation. We are encouraging Roslin Institute staff, past and present, as well as members of the public to share their recollections of Dolly. You can submit your memories via the Dolly@20 website at www.dolly.roslin.ed.ac.uk/dolly-memories.

The memories that we collect will be displayed online and in an exhibition as part of this year’s Midlothian Science Festival in October.
