The scholarship provides approximately £18,000 per year plus tuition fees, and is awarded for four years, subject to satisfactory progress. In return, students will provide teaching assistance of around 120 hours in first year, 180 hours in second year, and 240 hours in third and fourth year.

Candidates must possess a distinction grade MSc in Economics from a UK University, or an equivalent overseas qualification. The Scholarship is awarded solely on the basis of academic merit.
The Scholarship is awarded to candidates who hold an offer for a PhD in Economics. There is no application procedure for this scholarship; your application for entry to the PhD programme will also be considered as an application for the Research and Teaching Scholarship.
There is no closing date for this scholarship.
Please note that applications always exceed the number of awards available. Applicants are strongly encouraged to apply for other sources of funding and should not rely on this scholarship as their only potential source of funding.
