School of Social and Political Science

There are a number of scholarship schemes available.

School awards

The School offers a number of scholarships which cover tuition fees at the Home/EU rate plus a research expenses allowance of £500 for a maximum of three years.

The Catto PhD Scholarship

Thanks to the generous support of the Stephen Gordon Catto Charitable Trust, the Centre of African Studies will offer a fully-funded scholarship to an outstanding African applicant starting the doctoral programme in African Studies in September 2017.

The Chrystal Macmillan PhD Studentship

This Studentship is offered by the School of Social and Political Science to a new PhD student studying a field relevant to Chrystal Macmillan.

Macqueen Scholarship

A generous donation from the Julie-Ann Macqueen Trust will fund a PhD Social Work scholarship researching and benefiting one-parent families.

PhD Interdisciplinary Research Training Studentship

The School of Social and Political Science at the University of Edinburgh is advertising a studentship to support a four-year (1+3) PhD programme to study the role of interdisciplinarity in training the next generation of researchers.
