The Fennell Masters Scholarship

Two scholarships of £27,700 will be awarded to applicants accepted onto an eligible on campus one year History Masters programme.

Award

The total value of the scholarship is £27,700.  This will cover tuition fees and the balance will be paid as a stipend.

Eligibility

Applicants must be nationals of a country outside the UK and EU and be liable for the overseas rate of tuition fee.  Preference may be given to applicants from the United States.

Applicants must have applied for admission on a full-time basis for one of the eligible programmes listed below:

MSc American History

MSc Contemporary History

MSc by Research Economic and Social History

MSc History

MSc by Research History I (Arts Division)

MSc by Research History (Scottish History Division)

MSc Intellectual History

MSc Medieval History

MSc Scottish History

Applicants for the MSc Late Antique, Islamic and Byzantine Studies programme may also apply, though priority may be given to those applying for the programmes listed above

Criteria

  • Awards will be made on academic merit and the potential to excel at the chosen programme of study
  • Successful applicants must hold a UK 2.1 or first class honours undergraduate degree (or overseas equivalent) in a relevant field, or should be able to prove their academic merit through evidence of professional achievements, awards or publications relevant to their chosen programme of study. 
  • Candidates in this latter category should note that a good first degree will still be required.

Applying

Applications for this scholarship are no longer being accepted for 2019-2020 as the 5th of April deadline has now passed.

Notification

All applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application in mid-June 2019.
