College postgraduate studentships
These highly competitive awards are offered to candidates starting PhD programmes.
The studentships cover all UK/EU tuition fees and a maintenance allowance broadly equivalent to those of the UK Research Councils and the British Academy.
Research costs may also be paid.
These awards are judged solely on the basis of academic merit. Successful applicants are most often holders of first class or upper second class honours degrees from UK institutions or the overseas equivalent.
Candidates who have obtained a Masters degree with distinction will also be considered.
International students applying for studentships must also apply for an Edinburgh Global Research Scholarship or be able to demonstrate the availability of funds to meet the full overseas tuition fee.
For details on the application procedures in place for each unit, please contact the relevant College or School office.
