Medical Research Council

The Medical Research Council (MRC) offers studentships within biomedical or related biological subjects.

The University has been awarded a prestigious MRC Doctoral Training Programme in Precision Medicine which is run jointly with the University of Glasgow. Students undertake a 4 year PhD with Integrated study with 180 credits from taught courses complemented by a PhD project. Students who already have a Masters degree may undertake the programme in 3.5 years.

The University has also received an MRC Industrial CASE award, in partnership with the University of Glasgow.

Some positions are also funded by grants to MRC Centres in Reproductive Health and Regenerative Medicine as well as Institutes of Genetics and Molecular Medicine and Dementia. All students will receive a stipend aligned to UKRI rates for 3.5 or 4 years.
