Scholarships and Student Funding

George David Family Scholarships: Earth Scholars @ EFI

Each of these scholarships will support applicants who are from countries most impacted by climate change, for entry in 2024-2025 to the online Postgraduate Certificate Programme in Circular Economy at the Edinburgh Futures Institute (EFI).

Awards

We are offering 2 scholarships, for online study only, in the sum of £9000 each. These awards will be tenable for the 2024-2025 academic year.

Eligibility

These scholarships are for applicants to the Edinburgh Futures Institute’s Postgraduate Certificate in Circular Economy, commencing in September 2024. The award is for online study only. 

To apply for the scholarship an applicant must be domiciled in countries most impacted by climate change.  This includes all countries in the following regions:

  • Central America, including Mexico, and the Caribbean islands
  • South America
  • Africa
  • Pacific Island nations
  • Middle East vulnerable countries: Syria, Yemen, Afghanistan, Pakistan
  • Southeast Asia: India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia, Sri Lanka, Burma, Thailand, Timor-Leste, Indonesia, Vietnam, Malaysia, Papua New Guinea, Philippines

All scholarship award holders are expected to be energetic members of our postgraduate community and will engage with opportunities to present their work to the wider student and staff body during the period covered by their award.  We offer our postgraduates a range of training and development opportunities appropriate to their programme of study.

Criteria

Applicants must have, or expect to obtain, the equivalent of a UK first class or 2:1 Honours degree at the undergraduate level. 

Applicants applying to Postgraduate programmes longer than one year may apply, but must be aware that this funding is for one year only, therefore, applicants are advised to budget accordingly.

Eligible applicants should complete an online scholarship application.

The scholarship deadline is 23:59 BST 11th July 2024.​​​​​

In order to gain access to the scholarship application system, applicants must have applied for admission to the University of Edinburgh.  Please note that, following the submission of an application for admission, it can take up to five working days for all system checks to be completed and for access to be granted.

The online scholarship application form is located in EUCLID and can be accessed via MyEd our web based information portal at https://www.myed.ed.ac.uk

When logging in to MyEd, you will need your University User Name and password.  If you require assistance, please go to http://www.ed.ac.uk/student-systems/support-guidance If you have not applied for admission, please go ahead and do this and you will receive your University User Name and password.

Notification

All applicants will be notified by the end of July 2024.
