Jean Kennoway Howells Scholarship

One scholarship available for taught masters programmes offered by the Reid School of Music.

Award

We are offering one scholarship for the sum of £15,000.  The award will be tenable for one academic year and will be automatically deducted from your tuition fee with any remaining funds being awarded towards living costs.

All scholarship award holders are expected to be energetic members of our postgraduate community, and will engage with opportunities to present their work to the wider student and staff body during the period covered by their award. 

Eligibility

The scholarship will be awarded to new applicants who have applied for admission to a full-time postgraduate taught Masters programme of study within the Reid School of Music commencing in the 2024-2025 academic year.

Awarded broadly on the basis of academic merit, the Jean Kennoway Howells Scholarship requires candidates to have, or expect to obtain, a UK first class or 2:1 Honours degree at undergraduate level or the international equivalent.

If wishing to commence a new programme of study in September 2024 you must ensure that you have fully completed and submitted your Masters programme application for admission using the University's online system by no later than 11th March 2024.

Scholarship applications from prospective students which are not supported by a fully completed PG programme application and not submitted by the deadlines above will not be considered for funding.

Please note: This scholarship cannot be held alongside any other ECA or University of Edinburgh scholarship funding

Applying

Eligible applicants should complete an online scholarship application.

The scholarship deadline is 23:59 GMT 18th March 2024.

In order to gain access to the scholarship application system, applicants must have applied for admission to the University of Edinburgh.  Please note that, following the submission of an application for admission, it can take up to five working days for all system checks to be completed and for access to be granted.

The online scholarship application form is located in EUCLID and can be accessed via MyEd our web based information portal at https://www.myed.ed.ac.uk

When logging in to MyEd, you will need your University User Name and password.  If you require assistance, please go to http://www.ed.ac.uk/student-systems/support-guidance If you have not applied for admission, please go ahead and do this and you will receive your University User Name and password.

Please note: the Personal Statement for your scholarship application should clearly state why you are applying for this scholarship, why you feel your application should be considered and what benefit the scholarship will have for your studies.  We are also looking for your thoughts on how you might contribute to the postgraduate community within ECA whilst on programme.
