Skyscanner Accessibility and Inclusion Award
Skyscanner has created a new Accessibility and Inclusion Award to recognise and celebrate disability inclusion by students in their dissertations.
About the award
This award will be presented to the student whose dissertation exhibits a deep understanding of an accessibility and inclusion problem, and showcases a creative and practical solution that directly benefits members of the disabled community. There will be a monetary prize of £500, awarded at the end of the 2023/24 academic year.
Eligibility
All students at the University of Edinburgh writing a dissertation within the School of Informatics starting from the 2023/24 academic year are eligible for the annual award. Students can be proposed by their supervisor or can propose themselves.
About the selection process
A shortlist will be created by the University of Edinburgh teaching staff in the Informatics department and given to Skyscanner for judging. Each applicant will be asked to fill out a submission form, summarising their dissertation through answering a number of set questions. A short video will also be requested.
How to Apply
The submission form will be provided in the coming months. Submissions should be sent to Neil Heatley (neil.heatley@ed.ac.uk) and the deadline for applying will be confirmed.
Application outcome
The final outcome will be a joint decision by Informatics staff and Skyscanner. Any questions can be addressed to Neil Heatley, Head of Student Services, at the above email address.
