Wellbeing services

We offer various services and resources for student wellbeing, including short-term counselling, disability and learning support, wellbeing advisors, self-help resources, and iThrive Edinburgh.

These services cater to students with disabilities, neurodiverse conditions, physical and mental health issues, and common student concerns such as money, stress, depression, and homesickness.

All students have access to our new Wellbeing Advisers for support on any issues that affect their health, wellbeing or personal life.  No issue is too small, so please ask for help if you need it.

Support in a crisis

Food

Our café prices are fixed for the full year ahead, and we've introduced cheaper lunch options of soup for £1.50 or a range of filled sandwiches for £1.75 in all our University-managed cafés and catering outlets.

Some of our buildings have areas with microwaves and hot water, which you can use to heat and prepare your own food. Check with your school to find out what facilities are available in the spaces you use.

Food banks

Food banks work with frontline professionals, like doctors, health visitors, social workers, and Citizens Advice. These professionals can refer you to a food bank and give you a voucher if they think you need emergency food.

Visit the Trussell Trust website for more guidance on accessing food banks.

Transport

We provide a free shuttle bus service for the academic year 2023 - 2024. The service is for students and staff travelling quickly between Central Area and King's Buildings to meet their academic timetable.

The government offers free bus travel to anyone aged 5-21 who resides in Scotland for most of the year (6 months or more).

Several other schemes available to students give you discounts on public transport around Scotland and the UK.
