The University has its own Accommodation Service providing residential accommodation for around 6,500 students at over 40 different locations.
There is a range of student support services available to help you while living in student accommodation.
The Accommodation team will be able to support you if you need to self-isolate:
- because of Covid-19 symptoms; or
- because you are an international student entering UK quarantine
Our Residence Life team build a residential community to welcome and support everyone living in University accommodation.
Before you arrived in September, you will have been invited to join a Facebook group for your accommodation block. This gives you the chance to virtually meet some of your new neighbours and flatmates, and to ask questions.
Find out more about the team and what they do on our Residence Life website.
Accommodation health and safety
We have procedures in place in our residences to comply with all UK government restrictions.
These will vary by building, but include the introduction of:
- hand hygiene facilities at entrances
- physical distancing measures, one-way systems and circulation spaces
- screens at all reception areas
- clear health and safety signage
- increased cleaning regimes for all shared spaces and equipment
- reduced occupancy and reconfigured layouts in shared rooms
The people who you share a flat with (or floor, if you are in Pollock Halls) are considered to be your ‘household’.
You are not required to physically distance from those in your household or wear a mask in your flat. However, you may wish to take precautions such as using hand sanitiser in shared spaces and wiping down surfaces after use.
You are encouraged to physically distance and wear a mask in spaces which you share with people outside of your household, such as common rooms and communal pantries.
Access to online services
All student rooms at University-managed accommodation have access to Wi-Fi.
If you are having problems accessing the University WiFi in student accommodation, or need access using an ethernet cable, please read the advice and support on our Information Services webpages below:
