Learn Virtual Learning Environment service disruption

On Monday 21st September 2020,  we experienced service disruption on Learn – our Virtual Learning Environment.

The cause of this unexpected incident has now been identified and a fix has been applied which has restored service.  Learn users who have been experiencing problems should close their web browser and reopen it, then try to access Learn again, reporting any ongoing issues.  We can see that many users have been able to login and use Learn successfully now. Thank you for your patience.

Any teaching staff who have invoked alternative teaching contingency plans should revert to using Learn as they would do normally.

We continue to monitor Learn closely and will keep everyone updated.

We understand that this service outage has caused a great deal of stress for both students and teaching staff. Delivery of teaching tools is a top priority for Information Services and we have worked closely with the service provider on this incident. We will perform a full review of this incident and solution with the vendor to ensure that we don’t have a repeat of any similar disruption and so that we can have confidence this incident is now resolved.
