A Successful First Events Management Community (EMC) Induction Event

In response to feedback from EMC members, a very successful Induction event introduced newer members to the event spaces at Pollock Halls.

A tour during the EMC induction event

Led by Dawn Dodd and Catherine Hetherington from ISG, and Amanda Ferguson from ACE, newer members of the EMC toured a variety of spaces available to book for events and met colleagues for a delicious networking lunch.

The induction session began in St Leonards Hall and started with a talk by Dawn Dodd and Catherine Hetherington. They highlighted the importance of the Events Management community, what it does and how members can get themselves involved.

With thanks to the University Hospitality and Events Collection for the lunch, Amanda Ferguson gave an overview of ACE services and how they work together with the EMC, demonstrating their key role in supporting the organising and running of events. Following this, the group were given an in-depth tour of the venues and hotels on Pollock Estate, showing off the variety of spaces that the estate has on offer.

Catherine Hetherington, Collaboration Services Team Manager, said, 'Many thanks to our Events Management Community members who joined us on our first EMC Induction session to tour the amazing venues and hotels at Pollock Halls. It was great to meet more of our community in-person'.

The induction was a great success, ensuring that new members are aware of more of the venues bookable for their upcoming events.

This first induction session is just one of the many ways the EMC are looking to improve information available to event planners. Next up a subgroup of the EMC are working on a Venue directory. Watch this space…
