Library Orientation Guides

As part of our preparation for the new academic year the Academic Support Librarian team have been working to ensure that students starting in September 2021 will gain a valuable experience via library services during this period of hybrid learning.

A photo of the Main Library help desk, behind the desk is a swivel chair with a model skeleton sitting on it facing the camera.

This includes looking at how we deliver information about our libraries at the start of term. We decided this would be an excellent time to develop a version of our usual in-person tours which can be accessed online ahead of visiting, which students can use while self-isolating or quarantining.

We’ve used the Microsoft Sway platform to create a helpful introduction to ten of our library sites including pictures and information about accessing resources, moving around buildings, and getting help when needed. There’s also an orientation guide for Using the Online Library. We can also provide accessible versions of these guides; please email us to request them directly.  The Library Orientations Guide webpage has a full list of available guides. Links have also been added to the Library Locations page or each site.
