Can’t Stop the Music: the Musical Instrument Collection at St Cecilia’s Hall

When Museums Galleries Scotland offered funding for Museums to enable remote engagement with collections, the Musical Instrument Collection was fortunate to gain support for an exciting project to make a suite of new videos.

Three types of film have been made: 35 short demonstrations of a wide range of instruments from the Collection; 15 ‘talking-head’ educational films; and 6 concerts presenting music from a range of different traditions. The concerts are being released during August as a virtual Fringe series instead of the usual live concerts at St Cecilia’s Hall through the YouTube channel: St Cecilia's Hall: all things musical instruments - YouTube. All the videos, which are being shared throughout August and September, have been produced in partnership between ISG’s Library & University Collections and the Online Course Production Service.
