New Students

Manage your wellbeing

As you prepare to start your studies at university, you may be excited and also a bit apprehensive. Evidence suggests that the following five steps can improve your mental wellbeing.

Engaging with these steps before you arrive will help you to think about what wellbeing means to you now, how you deal with challenges, and how you will engage with your own wellbeing while at the University.

Connecting with people either, in person or online, is important for your wellbeing. This page will give you information on how to find people to connect with and places to go if you need support connecting.

Be active

Keeping active plays a key role in both your physical and mental wellbeing. We have plenty of opportunities and activities to explore, and there is something for everyone to try new things and lift your energy.

Take notice

It is important to be mindful and keep an awareness of the present moment.

Keep learning

We offer a range of workshops, short courses and webinars to encourage the personal and academic growth of our students. You can also access our Careers Service for support and guidance on how to build new skills for your future career.
