Media Hopper is a new service that puts video at the heart of our University activities. The goal is to enable students and staff to effectively use digital media in our various activities. All students and staff – including distance learners - will have access to Media Hopper's asset management tools to create, edit, share, view, re-use and centrally store audio and video content. The launch of Media Hopper signals a significant investment and commitment to mainstreaming digital education. Video-based assignments can be recorded on your mobile device, edited, and then submitted. Personalised video feedback from staff to students will be possible, as well as enabling students to record and share video content with their peers/tutors, and use commenting tools to crowdsource feedback. Social media channels provide platforms for creating, discovering and sharing content in our day to day lives. Media Hopper will build on knowledge of current platforms, such as Youtube and Vimeo, to provide a user friendly and accessible service to enhance our ability to deliver powerful and engaging content. In addition to being useful for academic purposes, there are opportunities for class reps, student societies and other groups to use the media to engage with their activities. Media Hopper will launching before Christmas. Keep your eyes peeled for the announcement! This article was published on 2024-11-12
