What is the Edinburgh Award?

We know lots of people are already involved in activities alongside their studies, e.g. volunteering, part-time work and getting involved in the University community. To help you to stand out from the crowd the University has established the Edinburgh Award – a programme that wraps around activities like these, giving you recognition for your involvement and helping you get the most out of your experiences.

Why should I get involved?

Last year 97.1% of Award recipients said they would recommend doing the Award to a friend

95.7% felt they were better off having done the Award

Get involved and you’ll be part of a supported environment, enhancing your skills and working towards genuinely excelling. You’ll receive a certificate of recognition from the University and an entry on your HEAR (Higher Education Achievement Report).

But, like your degree, the most important thing you get from the Award is not the bit of paper but it’s what you can do and show as a result that really matter.

The Edinburgh Award will help you

• Increase your self-awareness

• Capitalise on your existing strengths

• Develop new skills and abilities

• Have impact wherever you are

• Confidently market yourself, providing evidence of what you have to offer
