Join us for one, two or all three sessions as part of a day of inspiration and creative activities. All sessions are free and open to all - please book a place.

This year there is a special focus on Women in Chemistry and the 19 petitioners to the Royal Society of Chemistry in 1904 (PDF).

11:00 - 14:00 - Talks and fun science/tech activities

A series of short presentations about exciting projects in the University and women in STEM initiatives, followed by a hands-on technology session.

 

14:00 - 17:00 - Wikipedia editathon celebrating women in STEM

Room 4325C, James Clerk Maxwell Building

Did you know that only 17.08% of the English Wikipedia's biographies are about women?  Help us redress the balance at this Wikipedia edit-a-thon event by helping create new articles and improving existing articles to celebrate women in STEM while indulging in Periodic Table cupcakes. Please bring a laptop. Full training will be given and new editors are welcome.

 

17:00 - 18:15 - Film Screening: A Chemical Imbalance 

Lecture Theatre B, James Clerk Maxwell Building

Professor Polly Arnold, Crum Brown Chair of Chemistry, will introduce a film screening of ‘A Chemical Imbalance’. This will be followed by a panel discussion chaired by Anne-Marie Scott with Professor Jane Norman and Dr. Carole Morrison.
