1. A gift will support digital gains

Global investment firm Baillie Gifford has pledged £5 million to support research into the ethical challenges posed by the growing use of data and artificial intelligence.
2. A meetup in Singapore

Alumni are invited to the Edinburgh University Alumni Club of Singapore's first meetup on Thursday, 29 November in the historically-inspired cocktail bar, Nutmeg and Clove.
3. World Cup glory for students

Enactus Edinburgh, a student-run social enterprise that won the UK Enactus competition, reached the final eight in the Enactus World Cup in California earlier this month. Many of the team's projects were supported by alumni through the Student Experience Grants scheme.
4. Royal visit for Bayes Centre

Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal , Chancellor of the University, has officially opened the University's new centre of expertise in data science and artificial intelligence.
5. Doddie's pledge to MND research

Researchers have received £250,000 from the My Name’5 Doddie Foundation, launched by former rugby star Doddie Weir, to support the research that will use lab tests to investigate whether drugs that already treat a range of conditions could help people with motor neurone disease.
6. Edinburgh expertise helps found China hospital

A 200-bed hospital in China’s Fujian Province has been established by a University healthcare initiative.
7. New resident artists for Gallery

Five artists have been named as the first group to be supported by a new scheme that champions blossoming creative talent.
8. Physics-based audio at ECA

The Inaugural Lecture by Professor Stefan Bilbao at Edinburgh College of Art will take place on Monday 19 November - and alumni are invited. He'll examine physics-based audio through sound synthesis and virtual acoustics.
9. Online learning expands

The University is set to expand the online programmes and degrees it offers with a leading digital learning provider.
10. East coast events in USA
