January 2014 | Alumni Profiles

This month we talk about Edinburgh's influence and impact with the Guardian's Northern Editor, Scotland's Paralegal of the Year, our Alumni Ambassador in Ecuador, Canada's iron woman and a clinical psychologist with literary credentials.

We are interested in the role that the University has played in your life, either directly - in terms of skills and knowledge - or indirectly, via friends, experiences or chance encounters.

Please get in touch and you and your experiences could feature on our website.

Claire Corbin was named Paralegal of the Year at both the Law Awards of Scotland 2012 and the Scottish Legal Awards 2013. Here she tells us how her time at Edinburgh has stayed with her since graduation.

Cliff Chen gives us an enjoyably literary account of his thoughts on life as a student at the University of Edinburgh, and his subsequent career.

Robyn Hardage tells us she juggles a career as a policy analyst with her success as a distance runner and triathlete that has seen her ranked 13th in the world.

Jorge Luis Hidalgo graduated in 2008 but has now taken on the voluntary role of Alumni Ambassador in his home country of Ecuador. Here he explains how one of his classmates influenced his career choices.

Helen Pidd is Northern Editor at the Guardian newspaper, a role she acquired after honing her skills on student newspapers in Edinburgh.
