Website accessibility statement inline with Public Sector Body (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

This accessibility statement applies to https://elxw.login.em3.oraclecloud.com/  (Payroll)

This application is run by the University of Edinburgh. The application is developed by Oracle from whom we have purchased access to the software.

We want as many people as possible to be able to use this application For example, that means you should be able to:

  • using your browser settings, change colours, contrast levels and fonts
  • navigate most of the application using just a keyboard
  • navigate most of the application using speech recognition software (including Dragon NaturallySpeaking)
  • listen to most of the application using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of Job Access with Speech (JAWS), NonVisual Desktop Access (NVDA) and VoiceOver)
  • access and use the application without any time limits
  • experience no flashing, scrolling or moving text

We’ve also made the application text as simple as possible to understand.

Technical information about this application’s accessibility

The University of Edinburgh is committed to making its websites and applications accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

This application is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standard, due to the non-compliances listed below.

The full guidelines are available at:

Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standard

Non accessible content

The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.

Noncompliance with the accessibility regulations

The following items to not comply with the WCAG 2.2 AA success criteria:

  • Not all non-text content presented to users has alternative text
  • There may not be sufficient colour contrast between font and background colours, especially where the text size is very small
  • Not all the content reflows when the page is magnified
  • Pop ups appear without the user being alerted to them (although we believe this may be an error, Oracle have stated they do not believe their pop ups count as a change of context but we record here for completeness.)

Unless specified otherwise, a complete solution, or significant improvement, will be in place for those items within our control by March 2026, however we believe at this stage all issues within out control have been resolved. We will continue to work with Oracle to resolve the remaining accessibility issues that are not within our control. As these issues are resolved the statement will be updated.

Disproportionate burden

We are not currently claiming that any accessibility problems would be a disproportionate burden to fix.

Content that’s not within the scope of the accessibility regulations

At this time, we do not believe that any content is outside the scope of the accessibility regulations.

What we’re doing to improve accessibility

Unless specified otherwise, a complete solution, or significant improvement, will be in place for those items within our control by March 2026, however we believe at this stage all issues within out control have been resolved. We will continue to work with Oracle to resolve the remaining accessibility issues that are not within our control. As these issues are resolved the statement will be updated. Where issues are good accessibility practice rather than WCAG 2.2 AA compliance issues have been identified we have raised enhancement ideas (e.g. use of italics, continuous capitals, compatibility with browser spellcheckers etc with Oracle.)

While we are in the process of resolving these accessibility issues, or where we are unable, we will ensure reasonable adjustments are in place to make sure no user is disadvantaged. As changes are made, we will continue to review accessibility and retest the accessibility of this application

Preparation of this accessibility statement

This statement was prepared on 2 December 2020. It was last reviewed on 28 April 2025.

This application was initially tested by the University of Edinburgh’s Disability Information team in November 2020, using the Microsoft Edge browser (84.0.522.52) alongside Mozilla Firefox (78.5.0esr) and Google Chrome (86.0.4240.198) for comparative purposes. It has been tested regularly since (last November 2023) as improvements and fixes have been implemented by Oracle.

In particular we found best results with assistive technology when using Google Chrome.

In a survey Chrome was the most popular browser when using a screen reader.

 WebAIM annual surveys

The application was processed through an automated accessibility testing system-  WAVE Chrome Extension
