Our visits to you

Our staff regularly make trips abroad to attend education exhibitions and to hold a range of events for prospective applicants as well as pre-departure briefings for offer-holders.

Immigration assistance

International students can receive information from the Student Immigration Service’s trained Immigration Advisers, who are available to assist with visa advice, from the initial stage of applying to study in the UK, through to graduation. They can help with bringing your family to Edinburgh or working during or after your studies.

Advice in your country

We work with a network of agents that can guide you through the application process and advise on immigration matters.

Settling in

We offer an airport welcome service before the academic year starts and arrange activities to help you settle in.

Once you have received an offer to study at the University you can check online for essential information about joining us.

Student life

We organise a series of year-round social events and information sessions.

We run a week-long programme of orientation events for new students at Edinburgh, including International Day - an orientation event for non-UK students - and other ongoing induction activities.

International and Exchange Student Society

Run by student volunteers, our International and Exchange Student Society is a place where all our students can meet and socialise.

The society runs a programme of events throughout the year tailored to international students, including subsidised trips around Scotland, social evenings, parties and regular coffee gatherings.

Clubs and societies

You’ll find more than 320 societies catering for a multitude of interests at the University.

Among these are a number of international and multicultural societies, which not only offer support in settling in to a new environment but can also help you to locate students from your home country.
