The Insights Programme

Who can take part?

The Insights Programme is for those students who will benefit the most from an introduction to the workplace or learning about international working cultures and places.

We believe every University of Edinburgh student should be able to fulfil their academic and career potential.

Not everyone’s financial, family or educational background provides them with an equal opportunity to achieve their goals, so our Insights Programme is designed to remove some of the barriers that prevent some students from developing a fulfilling career. It does this by opening access to different professional careers and sectors, facilitating connections with alumni, providing skills support and ensuring there’s no financial cost to enable students to participate fully in the programme.

Invitation by email

The Insights Programme is for those students who will benefit the most from an introduction to the workplace or learning about international working cultures and places. So, that means we will send an email inviting students who meet our Widening Participation criteria to get involved. This may include students who reached university through non-traditional routes, students from a care-experienced background, or those who come from schools or communities where university isn’t always a typical destination.

Eligibility

Part-time or full-time current undergraduate students in their first, second or third year of study, who have received a Widening Participation flag when applying to the University, are eligible.

Not sure if you're eligible?

Students eligible to take part will have received an email from the University’s Insights Team 09 November 2023, inviting them to sign up. You don’t have to do anything until you receive your email invitation.
