Who can take part?
The Insights Programme is for those students who will benefit the most from an introduction to the workplace or learning about international working cultures and places.
We believe every University of Edinburgh student should be able to fulfil their academic and career potential.
Not everyone’s financial, family or educational background provides them with an equal opportunity to achieve their goals, so our Insights Programme is designed to remove some of the barriers that prevent some students from developing a fulfilling career. It does this by opening access to different professional careers and sectors, facilitating connections with alumni, providing skills support and ensuring there’s no financial cost to enable students to participate fully in the programme.
Invitation by email
The Insights Programme is for those students who will benefit the most from an introduction to the workplace or learning about international working cultures and places. So, that means we will send an email inviting students who meet our Widening Participation criteria to get involved. This may include students who reached university through non-traditional routes, students from a care-experienced background, or those who come from schools or communities where university isn’t always a typical destination.
For Insights Online February 2022 part-time or full-time current undergraduate students in years 1-3 of study, who have received a Widening Participation flag when applying to us, are eligible.
If you have taken part in the Insights Programme previously you are welcome to participate again, however please note that Insights Online 2021/22 will be the same content as previous Insights Online experiences.
Different eligibility criteria could apply to any in-person Insights Programme that takes place in the future (this Programme is currently dependent on the ongoing COVID-19 situation and will be in line with the University’s policy for student work placements and overseas travel).
Not sure if you're eligible?
Students eligible to take part in Insights Online February 2022 will receive an email from the University’s Insights Team by 10 December 2021. You don’t have to do anything until you receive your email invitation.
If the Insights Programme isn’t for you, we have lots of opportunities to develop work experience.
