Jordan is a Vice President and Group Manager at Ketchum, in the field of Strategic Communications, and is based in Washington, DC; USA.

Why did you want to get involved with the Insights programme?

As a Scot working in the United States, I take pride in promoting Scotland and my alma mater, the University of Edinburgh. The opportunity to help build links between current students in Scotland and the United States is something I am proud to play a role in.

What did you want the students to take away from their visit with you?

I try my best to highlight my career journey to date and show how a willingness to try new things and being curious can open up doors around the world in the workplace.

What impact has being a host had on you?

I learn a lot from spending time with current students in terms of getting a sense of their world views and the attitudes of the generation about to enter the workplace.

Being a host for the Insights Programme also reminded me that I am proud to have gone to the University of Edinburgh and I want to find ways to give back more to the university and promote its global reputation.

Top tip for alumni considering applying to be an Insights host:

Consider practical advice you can share based on your learnings from the early part of your career, e.g., you may not land your dream job initially but take the experience and think about what it could lead to.
