School celebrates recent success by students

The School of Literatures, Languages and Cultures would like to extend its congratulations to two of our PhD students who have recently received awards and recognition.

Muireann Crowley, from English Literature was awarded Best Learning Community, for her role in Developing Postgraduate Communities in LLC in the recent EUSA Teaching Awards.

EUSA's Teaching Awards recognise the teachers, support staff, courses, and learning communities that have an enormous positive impact on students' learning experiences at Edinburgh University.

Established in 2009 by the Edinburgh University Students’ Association (EUSA), the awards are part of an ongoing commitment to highlight the importance of excellence in teaching alongside the University’s research activity.

Jessica Legacy, PhD in Medieval Studies candidate, placed second out of 12 competitors from across the College of Humanities and Social Sciences in the 3 Minute Thesis competition. Jessica will now compete in the university finals on 25 June 2015.

The 3 Minute Thesis (3MT) competition requires PhD students to compete to deliver the best research presentation in just 3 minutes (and one slide). It is based on a concept developed by the University of Queensland which quickly spread across Australia and New Zealand, and has gone global.
