Fees to be confirmed
Home tuition fees for PhD and MPhil programmes in the 2024-2025 academic year are currently not available. We will release these as soon as they become available. For the academic year 2023-2024, these fees were set at £4,712.
Annual tuition fee increase
The tuition fee shown in the table is for one year only.
Tuition fees increase every year in the majority of cases.
If you intend to study over additional years, you should take this annual tuition fee increase into consideration when you estimate your fees for a degree.
If you are a new student from the EU, EEA or Switzerland, and plan to start your studies in 2021-2022 or later, your tuition fees are likely to be in line with the international rate. If you already have the right to live in the UK, you may be eligible for a 'home' fee status and will be charged a UK rate of fee.
You can check the latest information on our EU fee status pages.
Fee status information for EU applicants
International/EU student fees
From 2022-2023, tuition fees for multiple year postgraduate research programmes are fixed, meaning you will:
- not be affected by the annual tuition fee increase
- be charged a fixed annual fee based on your start date
Fees for PhD and MPhil degrees
UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) set the tuition fees for Home/EU students studying PhD or MPhil degrees. These tuition fees are usually confirmed later than the tuition fees for Overseas/International students.
Additional programme costs
Additional programme costs are set by each school or college.
Costs for some of our degrees are variable. All additional programme costs will be listed in your letter of admission.
