History graduates on our alumni bookshelf

Two History graduates, Dr Ian Wotherspoon and Bill Dunlop, are featured in the University’s alumni bookshelf this month.

Dr Wotherspoon’s book, ‘The Scots and China, 1750-2000: Issues, Ideas and Identities’, looks at why people from Scotland came to have such a significant influence on one of the world’s largest nations.

From 23 September, Dr Wotherspoon will be presenting a 10-week course within the University’s Open Studies programme. His topic: ‘Scottish Windows, Eastern Skies: The Scots and Asia, 1750-1950’. The class will run 2-4pm on Mondays.

In Bill Dunlop’s comic crime thriller, ‘Playing the air’, a hapless trio becomes caught up in a plot to retrieve smuggled diamonds, while the fate of three others “mingles with” the naval mutinies of 1797, Tranent massacre and Loch Tay militia riots.
