Dr Gordon Pentland wins RSE early career medal

The School of History, Classics and Archaeology is delighted to congratulate Dr Gordon Pentland, senior lecturer in History, on winning the Royal Society of Edinburgh’s (RSE’s) Thomas Reid Medal 2013.

Dr Pentland has been recognised for his “high quality research which contributes significantly to British and Scottish political and cultural history and his longstanding commitment to knowledge exchange.”

The Thomas Reid Medal is an early career medal, awarded to a researcher with between two and ten years' postdoctoral work experience. Thomas Reid was an 18th century philosopher who played an important role in the Scottish Enlightenment.

Dr Pentland joined the School in 2006 as a Leverhulme Early Career Fellow before becoming a lecturer and senior lecturer. His research interests include the political history of Britain since the French Revolution.
