Dr Groundwater awarded Research Workshop grant

Dr Anna Groundwater has been awarded a Research Workshop grant of £8,900 by the Royal Society of Edinburgh for a research workshop and follow-on knowledge exchange event, 'Mapping the Nation: representations of Scotland,1200-1707'.

Chris Fleet, Senior Map Curator at the National Library of Scotland, is co-applicant on the project. The research workshop will be held in the Maps Collection, NLS, in June 2013. This will be followed by a larger conference in January 2014, which will interface current academic research in Scottish history and literature with secondary school teachers, in response to new components in the Scottish secondary education curriculum. A blog is under development to publicise the series, and to encourage feedback.
