Postgraduate entry requirements for students from Pakistan. For entry to most University of Edinburgh postgraduate degrees, students will need a HEC-recognised 4-year Bachelor Degree with a minimum grade average of 3.5/4.0GPA from an accredited higher education institution.Applicants who are considered to have met our minimum requirements may be considered for entry and will be measured competitively against other applicants. For many of our programmes, competition is high and the equivalent to a First-Class degree may be required. Certain programmes will also have specific requirements in terms of both the overall degree result and strengths in particular subjects which are seen as relevant to that degree. Please note that where both a GPA score and a percentage score are provided, the GPA score will be used to assess an applicant’s eligibility.UK equivalentGPA out of 4.0First3.72:13.52:23.2Entry to our research programmesIf you have a master’s degree from an HEC recognised university in Pakistan you can usually be considered for postgraduate research programmes.Master of Science by Research (MSc by Research)Master of Philosophy (MPhil)Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)A research proposal is required in submitting your application. However, entry requirements vary by programme, and you should check the detailed entry requirements are listed under each programme on the Degree Finder.Degree FinderHow to write a research proposalFurther guidance on academic entry requirementsYou can also obtain further guidance on admissions requirements from staff in the College Admissions Offices.College of Arts, Humanities and Social SciencesCollege of Medicine and Veterinary MedicineCollege of Science and EngineeringEnglish Language requirementsAll applicants are required to demonstrate a level of English language competency, regardless of their nationality or country of residence.
