Postgraduate entry requirements for students from Argentina, Bahamas, Belize, Bolivia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Jamaica, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Uruguay and Venezuela.

You must have a very good Bachelor degree (from a good institution) in order to be considered for direct admission to taught postgraduate study at the University of Edinburgh.

Country-specific guidance

The scores or grades you should have achieved in your undergraduate degree are given below.

Argentina

A minimum promedio of 7.5 (10 point scale) in your licenciatura.

Bahamas

You will normally be expected to have a minimum 3.0+ on a 4.0 scale from the University of the Bahamas.

Belize

A Bachelor degree from the University of the West Indies is considered comparable to a UK Bachelor degree.

Bolivia

You will normally be expected to have a minimum 5.0+ or 75%, depending on the grading scale.

Costa Rica

You will normally be expected to have a minimum promedio of 7.5-8.0 in their licenciatura.

Cuba

You will normally be expected to have achieved minimum grade of 80%+ or 4.0+ (depending on the grading scale).

Dominican Republic

You should have completed at least 4 years of study, and obtained a Licenciatura/Professional Title.

El Salvador

You will normally be expected to have a minimum promedio of 7.5 (10 point scale) in their Grado de Licenciado, Ingeniero or Arquitecto.

Guatemala

A minimum promedio of 85% in licenciatura or título profesional. 

Haiti

Students must have the equivalent of a very good UK Bachelor degree (from a good institution) in order to be considered for direct admission to postgraduate study at the University of Edinburgh.

Honduras

You will normally be expected to have a minimum promedio of 4.0 (5 point scale) or 80% in their Licenciatura.

Jamaica

You will normally be expected to have a minimum of 3.7 on the 5 point grading scale.

Nicaragua

You will normally be expected to have a minimum promedio of 80% in your licenciatura.

Panama

You will normally be expected to have a minimum promedio of 85% in your licenciatura.

Paraguay

In the 10 point scale, you will normally be expected to have a minimum promedio of 8.0-8.5 in your licenciatura.

In the 5 point scale, you will normally be expected to have a minimum promedio of 4.0.

Uruguay

You will normally be expected to have a minimum promedio of 4.0 Bueno (6 point scale) in your licenciatura.

Venezuela

You will normally be expected to have a minimum promedio of 16.0 (20 point scale) or 7.0 (9 point scale) in your licenciatura.

PhD programmes

Application to PhD study typically requires a masters degree in a related or relevant subject, and a research proposal.
