Science of the Paranormal at Fringe
The University’s Koestler Parapsychology Unit celebrated its 30th anniversary with a series of interactive workshops focusing on paranormal experiences.
For the first time, the public had the chance to see inside the Koestler Parapsychology Unit and join in experiments revealing the truth about dowsing, telepathy and psychic readings.
Dr Caroline Watt, a founder of KPU, led the workshop titled Unbelievable: The Science of the Paranormal, revealing how parapsychologists test for psychic abilities, and how people can fool themselves about seemingly paranormal experiences.
People hold a lot of misconceptions about parapsychology and the paranormal. Our Fringe event is a unique and fun opportunity for the public to visit our department and find out what parapsychologists really do.
The event was free and unticketed, and took place 15-22 August at the Psychology Building, 7 George Square.
