New Students

Arriving late

Information for students who arrive late (after Welcome Week)

We recommend that you arrive in time for Welcome Week so that you can make the most of what's on offer to you as a new student and attend your School's essential induction events. But if you do arrive late (or know in advance that you won't arrive in time for Welcome Week), then there are a few important things you should do.

University accommodation

If you expect to arrive later than your accommodation lease start date, you should notify the Accommodation Allocations team as soon as possible: accom.allocations@ed.ac.uk

Contact your School/Deanery

It is very important to inform your School/Deanery that you expect to arrive late. They will be able to provide information on what to do if you miss any of your School's essential induction events and how to catch-up. They may also need to arrange an alternative time to confirm your attendance, which is part of the matriculation process.

International students

If you are an international student and expect to arrive late, you should check whether this will have any implications on your visa.
