Vaccination Clinic

Tuesday 15 to Friday 18 September, between 9.00am and 4.00pm, closed from 12:00 - 1pm.

NHS Lothian will be at Welcome Week offering eligible students the opportunity to get their meningococcal B (MenB) vaccination for free at McEwan Hall.

Only vaccine available at the clinic will be meningococcal B (MenB).

The meningococcal B (MenB) vaccine helps protect against infection caused by the meningococcal group B bacteria. This bacteria is one of the types that can cause meningitis (inflammation of the protective membranes that surround the brain and spinal cord) and sepsis caused by meningococcal group B bacteria.

For all other vaccinations please visit the NHS Lothian webpage for information and how to get your vaccines.

Eligibility for the MenB vaccine

You'll be asked a few quick questions to confirm your eligibility before receiving your vaccination.

You can get the MenB vaccine if you can answer yes to one of the following questions:

  • are you under the age of 25, starting university for the first time in the 2026-2027 academic year, and living in shared student accommodation (including international students)?
  • were you born between 1 March 2008 and 28 February 2009?
  • were you in S6 during the 2025-2026 academic year?
  • are you under the age of 25 and starting your first undergraduate university course in the 2026-2027 academic year (including international students)?

The entrance for the Vaccination Clinic is through the glass doors of McEwan Hall. You will need your student card to enter.

You may need to wait during busy periods, so please allow some extra time. If standing in a queue is difficult for you, speak to a member of the team who will be happy to help.

If you have your vaccination record, please bring it with you. Your University offer can also help speed up the process, but it isn't essential.

If you are an international student, and are attending the International Check-In at any point from Tues 15 - Fri 18, you may enter the Vaccination Clinic after your visa has been checked. You will then be asked the eligibility questions.
