Postgraduate Student Welcome Events

This welcome event will focus on your entire taught postgraduate experience at the University of Edinburgh. You will hear from academic and careers professionals, recent alumni students and our Postgraduate Rep student who will share useful tips, strategies, and resources to help you feel ready and to give you a realistic and useful overview of what to know and do at every point of your Masters journey.

This event welcomes all new postgraduate taught students and a great opportunity to connect with other new students. It is designed to complement programme induction academic events. 

No booking is required to attend this event; however, it will be first-come, first-served basis and we expect it to be busy so please arrive in time to find a seat.  We are unable to live stream this event.

Join your Students' Association for an afternoon of relaxed socialising and networking with other Postgraduate Taught students.

This event takes place directly after the University's Postgraduate Taught Students Welcome Talk.

The PGT mixer will take place on Tuesday 15 September from 3:30 pm - 5:30pm at Potterrow Dome. 

A ticket is not required to attend this event, by getting a ‘register your interest’ ticket you are helping us to better plan for expected numbers and will receive communications should any details about the event change.

The Welcome Talk is for all new postgraduate researchers at the University of Edinburgh. It offers an overview of postgraduate research, training, support, and opportunities for all postgraduate researchers. Join us to hear from Doctoral College leads and university representatives, and gain insights from current postgraduate researchers during the student panel.

No booking is required to attend this event. However, it will be first-come, first-served to enter and it is strongly recommended that you arrive for before the start time. We are unable to live stream this event.

Book now to join us at McEwan Hall, on Thursday 17^th September at 14:30 - 16:00, for the PGR Social and Networking Session. 

New PGR students, alumni and current PGR students are invited to join us for an enjoyable and informal networking session to welcome our new students to the University and the wider community. 

New students can meet each other, whilst having the opportunity to learn valuable insights from alumni and current students, who themselves will benefit from making key connections. 

As there are a limited number of places available, these will be allocated on first-come, first-served basis
