Who are Security

Our Security team is here to help you feel safe and supported throughout your time at the University, with a 24-hour service available every day of the year. You’ll spot our team around campus in their recognisable red jackets and red electric vehicles. From regular patrols to monitoring CCTV and campus safety systems, the team works behind the scenes to help create a safe environment for all students and staff.

Situation

Can I call Security?

If you feel unsafe on any of our campusesYes, you can call security at any time of the day or night if you feel unsafe on campus.

Emergency:

I need an ambulance on campus

There is a fire on campus

I need the police on campus

In any emergency situation it is advised to dial 999 first which is the national emergency services number and will get you access to the fire services, the police and an ambulance. If you are on a campus it is advised to then call security to make them aware.

Crisis Out of Hours:

Out of hours refers to the timing, regular work hours in the UK are 9am-5pm anything out of these times are advised as out of hours. 

You are the victim of a crime

you have been hospitalised 

you are unable to access your accommodation 

Yes, you can call security for support with any of these situations. You can also call security on the behalf of a another student.
I received a phone call from someone I do not knowYes you can call security if you are worried about a phone call you have received from someone you don't know. Especially if they are asking for personal details or money. 
I am worried I am being scammedYes, the security team can support you if you feel you a phone call, email or letter you have received is a scam.
