Additional support for students with long term mental health issues
Guidance for staff about students with long term mental ill-health and the mental health mentor service.
If a student suffers from ongoing mental health issues they may be entitled to support from the Student Disability Service. The service offers appointments to students, which can be face-to-face or via telephone or Skype, to discuss what support will be of most help to them in relation to their studies.
In order to access support from the Disability Service students will need to provide evidence of disability, which is generally a simple letter from their doctor or other relevant medical professional.
Mental health mentor service
The Student Disability Service offers a specialist mentoring service providing one-to-one support for students who have long term mental ill-health.
