The Canadian Historical Association recently announced the winners of its Clio Awards, given for “meritorious publications or for exceptional contributions by individuals or organizations to regional history”.

The winner for the Atlantic Region was ‘A Land of Dreams: Ethnicity, Nationalism and the Irish in Newfoundland, Nova Scotia and Maine, 1880-1923’, Dr Patrick Mannion, Research Fellow in Irish History within the School.

"I'm absolutely thrilled that "A Land of Dreams" has won the prize for the Atlantic Region,” said Dr Mannion. “This award is highly regarded by those of us within the historical profession in Canada, and it's a tremendous honour that my work will now be listed alongside its previous winners."

Patrick is part of the AHRC-funded project "A Global History of Irish Revolution, 1916-1923" - focusing on diasporic engagement with Irish nationalism, particularly through the transnational networks of fraternal and benevolent associations.

Congratulations from everyone at SHCA!
