Phd student wins Scottish Church History Society prize

The School of History, Classics and Archaeology was delighted to hear that Clare Loughlin has been awarded the Scottish Church History Society's essay prize for 2018-19. 

Intended to recognise exceptional PhD research and scholarship in the field of Scottish church history, the Scottish Church History Society's essay prize comes with an award of £500 and publication of the winning essay Society's journal, Scottish Church History, in due course. Clare’s winning entry, based on her PhD research, was entitled  'The Church of Scotland and the "increase of popery" c.1690-1714'. 

I am delighted to have been awarded this prize by the Scottish Church History Society’, said Clare.

Clare will be presented with the prize on 16 March at the Scottish Church History Society conference in Dundee.
