Migration project aims to improve language administration software

CLASS, the software used to manage English language placements for visiting students, is being migrated to a cloud server, as part of a current project.

Currently, the software is hosted locally on Windows 2008 servers, which are coming towards their end of life and will no longer be supported in 2021. This coincides with the release of a cloud version of the CLASS software. By migrating the software to a cloud server, it ensures the continued delivery of the CLASS service for staff.

The cloud hosted CLASS software can be accessed remotely by users via an RDP connection. The migration process will not affect the functionality or look and feel of the CLASS system and will only change the hosting of the software.

This is the first step towards a further migration of CLASS to a web version, which will provide enhanced functionality and a revised user interface which users will access through their preferred web browser.
