Students who have not yet arrived in the UK

Information for EU and Swiss nationals who have recently started their studies, and did not come to the.

If you are studying a programme of more than 6 months

If you have already started your studies, or you will start your studies in January 2021, and you have not yet arrived in the UK, you must be aware of the changes to your options after 31 December 2020.

If you wish to apply for the EU Settlement Scheme, you must come to the UK by 31 December 2020. There is no minimum time you must spend here so it is possible, for example, to come for a few days and then return home for the Christmas holidays. However, you must intend to come to live and study in the UK.

Unfortunately, there are no exceptions to this rule, even if you are unable to travel due to COVID 19. If you do intend to travel you should be aware of the current rules to stop the spread of COVID 19 in Scotland.
