Dick Vet in the Community

Dick Vet in the Community is a University of Edinburgh community outreach centre providing a physical space for the University’s community projects and partnerships.

The Dick Vet in the Community Project was initiated by staff at the University of Edinburgh’s Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies. The Vet School started leasing 127 Nicolson Street in 2022 for their All4Paws community project which provides free veterinary services to the pets of people who are homeless or vulnerably housed. The premises, formally a veterinary clinic, offered an excellent opportunity to expand the All4Paws project. The shop front has been renamed “Dick Vet in the Community” to commemorate the founding of the University’s Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies in 1823 by William Dick.

More information about All4Paws’ work and opening times can be found on the University of Edinburgh webpages.

Further to the work of All4Paws, the premises was offered for use to the University of Edinburgh’s Community Team, enabling them to fulfil their Community Plan Commitments to support social impact, share knowledge and experience, and provide services to our communities.

You can read more about the 32 commitments in the Community Plan on the Edinburgh Local site.
