Community Access to Rooms
Community Access to Rooms offers local community groups and organisations the opportunity to use University rooms free-of-charge.
This is a commitment in the University’s Community Plan 2020 – 2025 and a Scottish Government Social Impact Pledge.
What’s on offer?

Central Edinburgh Rooms: Available Monday to Friday, 6pm to 9pm.

King's Buildings Campus: Available Monday to Friday, 6pm to 10pm, and weekends from 10am to 4pm.
Requests will be honoured with as much notice as possible, subject to space availability. Please note that we are unable to fulfil requests with less than 24hrs notice. Recurring bookings are encouraged, with confirmation available up to 4 months in advance.
Please be mindful of reduced availability during University teaching holidays. There is no room access available during winter break. For detailed semester dates, refer to the schedule below.

Various spaces are offered across our locations, ranging from small meeting rooms to spacious lecture theatres.
Our rooms can be used for a variety of purposes, including workshops, study groups, meetings, fitness classes, rehearsals, community events and more.

Central
40 George Square has a mix of classrooms, lecture theatres and even a screening room. The rooms vary in capacity from around 30-300, and has a mix of facilities. Most of the rooms have moveable tables, but some only have tablet chairs, which could be useful for meetings that require more open space.
There is limited public, metered parking near 40 George Square; this may be free outside certain hours. Wherever possible, please use public transport or active travel (cycling, wheeling, walking).

Paterson's Land has a number of classrooms, ranging in size from around 25-60 person capacity. Most of the classrooms are big and airy, with large windows. All of the classrooms feature moveable tables and chairs.
Paterson's Land is at the University of Edinburgh's Holyrood Campus, near the Scottish Parliament and Arthur's seat.

We have one room available at the Main Library. The room has tables and chairs, with space for up to 25 attendees. Please note that for this room we will need a list of names of attendees at least 24hrs before the booking time, so it is not a suitable space for drop-in sessions.

Kings Buildings
We have five large lecture theatres available at the Nucleus Building at King's Buildings. The smallest one can seat just over 100 attendees, while the largest space can comfortably seat 400 attendees. Most of the lecture theatres have a large area of empty space at the front of the room, so are particularly suitable for groups looking for more space - Nucleus has been very popular with drama groups.

Standard for-profit or statutory organisations and any organisation with an annual income exceeding £1 million.

Meetings that pose a clear and significant risk to the wellbeing of University students, staff, or visitors.
