Edinburgh Winter Run 2023

Staff and students at The University of Edinburgh made up over 50% of all runners at the 2023 Edinburgh Winter Run this year.

Saturday 21st January saw the much anticipated return of the Edinburgh Winter Run. Over 1,000 runners braved the cold to run the 5km course around Arthurs Seat, with over 50% of participants being staff or students at the university and the 1st place runner of the winter run was also a member of our incredible community. Massive thanks goes to Durty Events who do all the logistics and planning of the event, and to Lucy Evans who funded a grant to subsidise UoE entries and buy t-shirts for our community.

This was a real community event which included a Toddler Dash and Family Mile. Thanks also to all our volunteers who helped on the day at the Sports Union gazebo, on media duties and with the event organisers. Plans are already in motion for the 2024 edition which is sure to be bigger and better event.
