2023 Blues and Colours Awards powered by Technogym

Technogym announced as the headline partner of the 2023 University of Edinburgh Blues and Colours Awards

Celebrating extraordinary sporting and volunteering achievement

The partnership with Technogym, a world leader in designing and manufacturing fitness equipment, will help support the delivery of one the highlights of the University of Edinburgh sporting year.

The annual awards, which take place on Friday 2nd June this year, celebrate extraordinary sporting performance and volunteering and are an amazing showcase of all that is great about sport at The University of Edinburgh.

Blues – awarded for outstanding sporting performance

Awarded by the Sports Union to the University’s top athletes and those who have performed to a consistently high level for their University Club. They are notoriously difficult to acquire and are only available to those at the very top of their sport. Full Blues are awarded for National standard representation and Half Blues for Sub-National standard representation. These awards are the most prestigious that can be received by an Edinburgh University athlete.

Colours – awarded for outstanding service to the administration of student clubs

Awarded for services to and dedication to University Sport and to University Sports Clubs. Colours reward those individuals who have given time and effort above and beyond the call of duty to their chosen sport or Club.  University Sport could not operate without these volunteers organising and co-ordinating Clubs and the Colours award recognises this endeavour.

Marking an extraordinary year

Throughout the evening an extraordinary year of sporting achievement will be celebrated with the award of the Cameron Blue and McTernan Colour of the Year, the Coach of the Year award, Ewan Malcolm Student Coach of the Year Award, Student Official of the Year Award, Alex Currie Award for the most inspirational sporting moment and Alan Chainey Award for long standing services to sport.

The night concludes with inductions to our much heralded University Sports Hall of Fame, which is the highest sporting honour the University can bestow.

Edinburgh University Sports Union President Heather Gault said;

This is an exciting new partnership, helping us deliver an extraordinary event for extraordinary students. We look forward to celebrating the success of our top athletes, volunteers, coaches and officials with the support of Technogym.

Ben Sandham, Sales Director Health, Corporate and Performance at Technogym added;

We are delighted to be supporting the 2023 Blues and Colours Awards and to celebrate the extraordinary sporting performance and volunteering endeavours of the past 12 months with the amazing athletes, coaches and support team of the University of Edinburgh.
