We work closely with partners across the Edinburgh City Region, and beyond, to protect nature and improve biodiversity.
Protecting our natural world requires close collaboration between organisations and communities.
Wildlife is never confined to a particular area of land, so a shared approach to nature positive activities is the best way to revive habitats, whether in urban, rural or agricultural areas.
By working with our neighbours - who include councils, businesses, community groups or government bodies - we can support nature positive practices that meet the needs of our diverse campus and communities, whilst enabling wildlife to thrive.
The Edinburgh Nature Network
The University is a long-standing partner of the Edinburgh Living Landscape partnership, working to improve the ecosystem health of Edinburgh for the benefit of local people and wildlife.

Through the partnership, Scotland’s first nature network was established. The Edinburgh Nature Network (ENN) is a strategic approach to manage, restore and enhance the urban landscape of Edinburgh. Led by Scottish Wildlife Trust and the City of Edinburgh Council, the Nature Network map highlights opportunities to take action across the city.

Project partners, residents and experts have combined geographical and habitat data, local knowledge and practical considerations to create a map of opportunities for nature positive activities across the city.
We are implementing the actions relating to our campus through our Wild Campus programme, starting at Peffermill Playing Fields.
